Hey Frank, thanks for the update. If its alright i would like to come in on thrusday and take some snap shots to show progression and stuff. The guys on the cobalt forums keep nagging me for some updated pictures and stuff.

Shit, Frank should be taking the pictures for you.... He's prolly just surfing the net anyways.

You mean "skating", I'm a skater, not a surfer. LOL

Adam, you might want to come by today to take some pics. The Lightning that was supposed to come in today NO showed on us, so Sean is back on your car.

BTW Steve, I am taking some pics for a complete folder on our website once completed. So there!!! JK

Hey Frank,

I got some info on where to tap for oil. From what the other 2.2 cobalt owners are telling me there are Oil galleries in the head on on the firewall side of the head/block there are some bolts that use alen wrenches to take them out and they tapped one of those for oil feeding. The said to just pull one out double check to make sure there is oil on it

Hey Adam,
Still plugging away on your car. the oil galley plug has turned out to be a little bit of a fiasco. The pitch of the thread is different from the fitting that would need to go in, so I think we are going to try and tap the hole, obviously this would be easier if the head was off the car, but we'll do what we have to. We spent a portion of the day running around trying to find a fitting that would work, but to no avail.

I'll let you know our progress tomorrow.

Hey Frank,

Thanks for the update. What you guys are doing is more then what I thought was possible. (yeah my spelling sucks) I know the hahn race craft turbo kits come with the proper fittings from what the guys are telling me. Yeah, if the head was off that would make things a lot easier but taking the head off on the ecotec is a head ake in itself. Since it is duel over head cams, pretty much have to drop the engine to take the head off... this was how i messed up the engine in the first place when i tried to do a cam swap... couldnt get the timing set right because i couldnt get the timing cover off do to the lack of space on that side of the motor. Wasnt pretty, all the valves on the intake side made contact with the piston tops putting lash marks on the pistons.... that where i took the car to millenium, and you know the out come of that LOL.

Anyway thanks for everything you guys are doing.... I got some more info for you...
[QUOTE=Jn2;2307684]lemme upload the pic of it for you

you can get the thread converter from there, they have the oen that converts the threading on the ecotec block to 1/8" threading, which should make it easier to run a line off of
Metric Bolt Thread to NPT Pipe Thread Fittings
Utilize factory oil holes that are metric bolt thread by converting bolt threads to pipe threads.

Metric Bolt to NPT Fitting Specs

Fitting Material: Zinc Plated Steel
Working Pressure: X
Operating Temperatures: -65 to +400 F

Fitting Price

M12x1.75 Male to 1/8"NPT Female* $16.50

i hope that helps, that will convert the gallery plug on the ecotec block onto standard threading insteado of metric, which should help with the feed line, and i hope the pics help you out too, i copy and pasted that straight f rom the hanh kit install PDF i have saved on my comp for refrence, it only copied the pic, but i circled the plug i was alking about, that no look like nothin to do ith the tensioner if you look at it, and it shows the drain boss aswell(dimple thing)

Hey Adam, I ordered this fitting this morning. That fitting (M12x1.75 Male to 1/8"NPT Female) is exactly what we spent 3 hours on the internet and at local places in town looking for yesterday. The email response I received from them said it could take up to 10 days to receive. I sent them an email asking if I could pay to have it shipped 2 day. Waiting on a response now. Sean is going to do wiring and gauge stuff today.

Obviously, this may cause a delay. We'll see what reply I get from Vulcan Turbo.

Hey Frank, Thats fine. I was already planing on a delay, i understand stuff like this comes up when you are fabricating/pioneering something for a car. I found out that even though they did an install on a 2.2 cobalt, that was just for test fitment to make a kit from a company in colorado but it fell through. So i will be the "first" sts, and working, 2.2 cobalt

Good stuff, hopefully we will get the fitting mid next week. Then I just have to try and fit it in with everything else going on. Yea, you right about time delays when doing something first, like I said earlier, I spent 3 hours looking for that fitting yesterday.

We'll get this all workied out.
